Ayyyeee… What’s Goodie Everyone. These past two days have been filled with news. And before I continue, I want to wish all my Foundational Black American’s a Blessed and Abundant Black History Month.
Now… Back to the bullshit that is Whoopi Goldberg, The View and ABC plus other things. Now, On Tuesday February 1,2022 comedian, actress and social commentator Whoopi Goldberg was suspended as a co-host on The ABC show “The View” because of comments she made on the show when the panel had a discussion about the Holocaust.
Whoopi stated that “Personally, I’m shocked because given the story of ‘Maus,’ I’m surprised that that’s what made you uncomfortable — the fact that there was some nudity. It’s about the Holocaust — the killing of 6 million people.”
Goldberg made the comments during January 31,2022 episode because Goldberg and the panel had a conversation about the Holocaust-centered graphic novel “Maus” which was banned by a Tennessee school board, becoming just the latest on a lengthy list of banned books in the U.S.
“If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it, because the Holocaust isn’t about race,” she continued. “It’s not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about,” she said.
The other hosts paused before appearing to start to counter argue Goldberg.
Goldberg apologized for her comments the day after.
“On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both,” Goldberg tweeted. “As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people ;who they deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected.”
“The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver, I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused.”
The backlash that have came with her comments were Swift not just from the Jewish American community but, also from the Foundational Black American community.
The criticism that isn’t talked about is from the Foundational Black American community and why it does matter. I mean Whoopi Goldberg had been known as a bootlick for a long time. In the time that I have been alive and watched Whoopi on television, I rarely ever hear her speak on purely Foundational Black American issues. But for most of us, it’s known that Whoopi hung around in circles with people who were racist and exhibited anti-black sentiments.
When Foundational Black American’s start talking about anything political or social commentating, all of a sudden they shows are canceled, or they will no longer be on the show and for most of the reasoning happens behind the scenes. But being black is a crime in the media industry as well as many other industry. It’s really considered felonious when you start talking about black issues specifically and changing the narrative. White supremacy doesn’t like that.
Whoopi Goldberg needs to hold this L. What Whoopi Goldberg said was NOT a lie and she said nothing wrong, but it seems like for a community that she went to bat for is now a community that is going to criticize her and tear her to shreds for stating the truth. However… She never went to bat for Foundational Black Americans and her resume is long enough to show it. It states that people like authenticity, but people love mediocrity as well. Whoopi in my opinion shouldn’t even had said anything. But then again, she is a lost cause in my book.
Having a platform to change the world is a difficult task. Having a platform to be truly authentic is difficult but not impossible. It starts with us. Accountability is important, especially when you are in a position where your bread and butter is on the line because you simply not being true to who you are.
It’s also funny how most people ignore that slavery was and still is the biggest atrocity and cardinal sin. It happened to black people and it happened here in America and how the mainstream media glosses over it like it never happened we got no payment nor reconciliation or Repairations for it, but the Jewish community have gotten Repairations for the Holocaust. And that’s the truth.
